Finding Your Purpose

Using Your God Given Gifts for his Kingdom

Introduction

Welcome to the very first edition of the “Better than Rubies” newsletter.

This isn't just another business newsletter.

It's your starting line for a journey into making your work a powerful expression of your faith.

If you've ever wondered about the bigger picture behind your entrepreneurial spirit, or how your business can reflect your deepest values, you're in the right place.

The Big Idea: Identifying your God Given Purpose

You’re a Masterpiece!

Picture this: you're not just running a business; you're living out a masterpiece that God designed.

According to Ephesians 2:10, He’s got some big plans that include you doing great things.

Plans Packed with Promise

Jeremiah 29:11 is like getting a pep talk from God.

He’s basically saying, “Trust me, I’ve got awesome stuff in store for you—no disasters, just hope and a bright future.”

Gifts That Give Back

Romans 12:6-8 reminds us that we’ve all got different talents. Maybe you’re a natural leader, a creative thinker, or a people person.

These aren’t just skills; they’re gifts meant to shine and help others.

Reflections and Actions

  1. Find Your Fire - What part of your business gets you really pumped? Identify where your passion and God’s purpose line up.

  2. Talk It Out with God - Keep the conversation going with God. It’s like checking your GPS to make sure you’re still on the right path.

  3. Get Feedback - Chat with friends or mentors who get it. They can help you sharpen your skills and stay true to your mission.

  4. Dedicate Your Skills - Aim to use your talents for something bigger than just profit. Think about how your business can serve others and honor God.

  5. Serve Wholeheartedly - Look for ways your business can really make a difference. It’s not just about what you do, but how you do it that counts.

TL;DR

  • You were created with purpose—your business is a big part of that.

  • God’s got your back with plans for hope and success.

  • Your talents are your tools—use them to build something meaningful.

Nuggets of Wisdom

Ephesians 2:10 - "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

This verse highlights that each person has been created with a purpose and good works to fulfill, which aligns with the idea of discerning one's God-given purpose.

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

This passage reassures believers that God has a specific and hopeful plan for each individual, encouraging them to seek His guidance in understanding this plan.

Romans 12:6-8 - “6In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously.

If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”
